Value

While reading about how quickly things gain and lose value, like the lava lamp. It made me think of things in my life time that does that and it makes me think of the furby. When I was 7 or 8 at christmas time these furby toys (that this year have been brought back) flew off shelves. Kids wanted these toys and parents did anything to get them. When my mom got ours they where $27 and she turned around in December and sold them for $1000 a piece. Christmas came and within a week that toy was back on shelves and cheap.

Just goes to show that value changes rapidly I know I'd never pay that kind of price for a cheap toy.

This photo from our reading ties in with the Question Peter Christenson, asked me previously. What he asked for was an example of how one person sees something one way and another sees completely different.

This photo was shown to two of my mother friends that have not breast fed their children at a younger age. They took this photo as pornography rather than nurturing. Where myself as a mother who breast fed for 2 full years takes this photo as a historical fact that breastfeeding is nurturing and natural.

Culturally times have changed many woman today choose not to breastfeed and for some reason think its not necessary anymore. When I asked my friends why they thought the breast hanging out was inappropriate, both gave me similar responses that everyone knows that nursing happens, the boob just should not be showing.

Being a mother that has nursed, remembers how nursing is viewed in our society as something private. People think nursing mothers should nurse in bathrooms or at home. This photo is supporting a purpose the breast is the significance in the picture without it exposed the meaning changes.

Notes on some key points of the Lessig reading.

-Lessig, focuses on the effect of the internet rather than the internet itself, the effects on how culture is made from internet accessibility.
-Lessig discusses how change is distinguished between commercial (culture that is produced and sold) and non-commercial everything else.
-The focus on law always was focused on commercial creativity, laws are moving towards Media and so forth.
-Internet is a new era in building and cultivating new culture.
-Republic gives the right to build upon the past, and protect creators and innovators from private control -Lessig is trying to confront values and the importance of property over ideas and culture.

Lessig post 1

The Lessig reading is surprisingly interesting. One thing that I'm noticing is that it ties in with the readings from my computers in society class I took spring 2013!

I'm sorry but the first page made me laugh. the Causby's filing a lawsuit saying that the government trespassing is causing chickens to run into walls! lol

Technology gap is real though my grandmas 86 years old and refuses to use many technology devices, says their destroying people from having friends, cooking meals and so forth. One thing i get from all this that Technology is enable, it will continue regardless of personal opinions. Today it is impossible to get an education in United States with out technology use. Technology is used in every classroom.

355-Illusions

While reading the Illusions of space section I decided to put this in and google away and see what comes up. This picture by Philipee, http://philipee.deviantart.com caught my attention. Mostly the color and shapes being used, Then I start to look at other work he's done and saw that he has a wide variety of art taking place. Here is another beautiful piece with a completely different meaning!

Great piece in my opinion!

Color-355

I Really enjoyed the Adding and subtracting colors section of Chapter 2. This is mostly because i do this often to create new feelings in photography. The picture above is taken and given to me by my good friend Jana Monroe, old owner of Salon Monroe in Kennewick. This pictures taken at Coronado Beach California almost 2 weeks ago. "AN AMAZING OVER CLOUD PICTURE I MUST SAY." But I've been playing with color. The bottom photo is the original taken by iPhone, the middle is adding blue, Which makes the photo seem earthy in my opinion, then the top had yellow making the day seem more light and sunny, and to me makes the people stand out more. By playing with color your changing the feeling in a photo.

This is my first Photoshop work. The programing was hard to get use to but I was a champ at not getting overly frustrated. This Is Jocelyn Giles, myself I am a puzzle in itself. I never have all of me shared to the world. I started from scratch this summer, single for the first time since 18, living on my own, new career, single parent and no family in town! I'm still picking up the pieces and starting to find myself.
