Network Surveilence

We have seen work in previous classes on surveillance and how easy it is to get video of someone This is why the piece by Julia Scher to me was funny since it really is outdated technology wise but still a piece that can represent the presence.

There are still many pieces of art culture jamming privacy and surveillance a piece I came up with in more recent years is Anne Callier's piece called, Under Surveillance, done in 2009 and hung in 2011 high line, New York City.

One thing I found interesting is her work looks older, though I know she is still doing work since she is not very old but I could not find her website. I saw her work through art galleries but not on a personal page? I am going to look farther into this since I'm sure she must have something.

Ping Body

This piece of work is very interesting, The electronic media website actually has videos linked to this work and videos of how the system works. Stelarc is a performance artist exploring human/machine interactions. I wanted to know the importance of the third hand and threw a little research found out that there is actually history with the designed third hand that was completed in 1980, it was originally designed for a permanent arm attachment but because of issues with the device is used for performance purposes. With amplified body signals and sound have contributed to cyborg discourses of the body Which was used in the Ping Body performance at DEAF96.

Electronic Media websites

I was looking up art electronic websites for laser shows since this is something big being shown at a lot of science museums that people tend to enjoy seeing. I came across Van der Heide's 2007 work where he uses sine waves to create sound and visual patterns. The sound is actually quite interesting  and complex not the same as Seattle Science Center or Portland Omsi puts on with Micheal Jackson and the Beattles! Cant lie the kids love it, my daughter wanted to see the laser show over and over again.

Candy ART

Well no lie this awful holiday for the hallmark, candy companies, florals to make a quick buck is not only on my mind tonight but I thought I'd get it off my chest my sharing intriguing  uncommon art work that would work for this holiday not to just engage viewers but maybe stop thinking about their favorite candy as being appealing anymore taste wise that is.... so here it goes!

This first piece is made out of candy hearts by Nathan Sawaya!

The second piece is a chandelier made out of gummy bears by Yaya Chou, would you eat this if you had it in your room?

Valentines Day Heart Art on large building

Well since I saw this in our book on page 114, I found it perfect timing to talk about it and other works that generated thanks to Haus Des Lehrers building art contest. Now thanks to the Iphone app in 2008 called Stereoscope, everyone with the app could display blinkenlights, light show across the Toronto city Hall's all 960 windows and of course stream it live!!!!

It is said that the reaction to the Application is overwhelming and showed just the technology of the first version Iphone and what 3D on the phone was like...
