Jeffrey Shaw was born in Melbourne, Australia, where he ended up studying architecture and art history at the University of Melbourne. He went on to the Accedemia di Belli Art di Brera in Milan Italy and also St. Martin's School of Art where he studied Sculpting. His first project that he was a part of was in the Amsterdam, Netherlands with Peter Boersma, Theo Botschuijver, Willem Breuker, John Latham, Nica Nijland, Graham Stevens and Tjebbe van Tijen, called Sigma. In the Art and Electronic Media book by Edward A. Shanken, Shaw was recognized for his work Inventer la Terre (inventing the world).
